'Restoring Courage' Viewing Party Draws Determined Turnout

Local resident and 9-12 Project advocate hopes to extend reach and inform Constitution's intent.

If you haven't heard of the 9-12 Project, the name and organization will surely be heard in upcoming weeks. The organization was formed following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks under the belief that from tragedy comes unity.

People came together regardless of race or religion and were united by the core values and principles that made our nation great.

Ron Lamoreux, of Southington, organized a "Restoring Courage" Viewing Party at JD’s Pizza Bar and Grill Wednesday evening where a live feed of Glenn Beck TV's coverage of the event was being held in Jerusalem and was being simulcast worldwide.

The idea behind "Restoring Courage" is a series of coordinated events in states across the country to highlight the courage of the Israeli people and spread their resilience across The United States of America.

"We didn't know how many people would turn out tonight," said Lamoreux.

Twenty-three in all attended - extending from across the area including Southington, Plainville, Meriden and other surrounding towns - and sat intent on watching and listening to various rabbi interviews about Israeli's tumultuous history.

"This is important because it relates to much of our current state of affairs in our country," Lamoreux said.

"I don't care what party folks are affiliated with. It's not about party per say. The 9-12 Project represents what the Constitution stands for and upholding that."

"We're not here to sway anyone. It's up to individuals to do their own research on issues," said Robin Emond. "I'm here to lobby for the Constitution."

Emond, too is advocating for the same things as Lamoreux, saying the Constitution cannot defend itself and helped in getting a Constitution lobby launched through We The People CT

The "Restoring Courage" event is just one way of staying informed about issues. "It's your responsibility to know what effects you," said Lamoreux. "Look around and wake up. When laws change the nature of your rights, isn't that something you'd want to protect?"
