I think of this as more of a big act of continuing kindness, but I would like to acknowledge…Read More Sandbank Veterinary Hospital from the vets to the vet techs to the office staff. They all rock! Boris, my collie, was recently and unexpectedly sick, and all who came in contact with him were wonderful. And it's not the first time they have been wonderful; it's an ongoing kindness. This mom of furry kids is very grateful.

Unfortunately, that seems to be exactly what's happening. The focus is on the weapon(s) and not so…Read More much the murderer. People are being duped into believing that the sole reason for this and a few (read 4 or 5 in the past 35 years) other similar crimes, is that AR-15 "Military-style" "Assault" rifles are available to the general public! Ridiculous. Preying on the ignorance of others is never a good or ethical means to achieve one's goals.
We need to know all the facts, but I suspect they are carefully weeding out certain things to stress "key" findings such as his love for the NRA and violent video games.

Indeed there are too many unanswered questions. Legislative action needs to wait until all of the…Read More facts are in. That means waiting for the final report. Doing otherwise does not do justice to the memories of the fallen or to the rights of the innocent. Then we can fashion a legislative response that addresses the causes of the problem. We don't need political opportunists to rush their pet projects as solutions while the legislature is ignorant of the facts.

I would be in support of exactly what I said. The sticking point seems to be, for those opposed to…Read More gay marriage, the word marriage. So if you're really in support of equality take away the word marriage. Why should the government define what marriage is. Before you get married say, instead of going to get a marriage license from the town clerk, you get a civil union permit or whatever you want to call it. Change the laws so that a civil union permit confers with it everything that a marriage license used to. End of problem. The houses of worship and the religious folks who,are concerned about what a "marriage" is can't complain, we haven't redefined marriage. And the proponents of gay marriage should be happy, because they have all the same legal benefits of a marriage.

Would you be in support of religious-based marriages becoming legally irrelevant and conferring no…Read More legal rights, benefits, or considerations? If your spouse should die in military service, for example, would you be alright with forfeiting their benefits due to not being legally bound despite being married?
Ed Froem March 27, 2013 at 11:09 pm
Maybe its time for the government to get completely out of the business of saying who can and cannot…Read More get married. Let the government issue civil unions. Leave marriage to the houses of worship. In my church marriage is a sacrament. Should the government dictate the terms of that sacrament to the church?
