Southington Men Claim Hockey Championship

The Southington Hurricane Men's Hockey team claimed the CT Hockey League session championship on December 23rd. The Hurricanes defeated Old Glory 7-3 to wrap up the championship. Southington residents providing offensive power for the Hurricanes included Pat Henderson, John Mahon, Tim Backus, Mike Dagata, Tim Rose, Steve Hills and Kevin Schmarr. Plainville resident JJ Cyr and Cheshire's Kevin O'Donnell also bolstered the Cane’s offense. A strong defensive effort was put in by Pete Bacheler, Tom Blumetti, John Baden, Mark Alfano, Kevin Crean and Michael Agli. Goaltender Frank Torre "stood on his head" for the team and blocked 37 shots. The Hurricanes will begin defense of the title on January 13th.
