Veterans Honored by Saint Thomas School Students

St. Thomas Students Honor Veterans at a Prayer Service  honoring local Servicemen and Servicewomen

On Friday, Nov. 9, Middle School students at the St. Thomas School entered the prayer service representing the Color Guard and led the service with the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance.

Father Nick welcomed the group with a service prayer and students from the seventh grade read essays about what Veteran’s Day meant to them. The service continued with the Kindergarten grade performing a patriotic medley of songs.

The entire school body and guests joined in the anthem singing of the theme songs of each of the armed forces, Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines. The individual servicemen were called to the stage escorted by the student who sponsored them as their resume of time served was read. The event ended with a reception for all guests and students.

Many of the servicemen in attendance brought memorabilia to be displayed for the students. Along side the gym entrance, the Saint Thomas School Wall of Honor was decorated with stars of each veteran’s name submitted by the students and their families.
