Global company supports Bread for Life

The reach of Bread for Life spreads beyond Southington’s borders. In Farmington, where the U.S. headquarters are located for ebm-papst, a Germany-based company, recently concluded its third annual food drive with hundreds of items collected.

Ebm-papst is the world’s leading source for engineered air movement products, providing a “total solution” approach and extensive in-house resources. Its team of professionals solves heating, cooling and ventilation challenges for industries and applications including ventilation and air conditioning, refrigeration, gas and heating, household appliances, IT and telecom, industrial and transportation, and more, according to a company statement.

When Eldon Hafford, Bread for Life executive director, learned of the ebm-papst food drive he was grateful for their support especially at this time of year. “Last year your food drive was a great help in feeding the hungry and this year was just as great,” he said. “Your donation enables us to accomplish our mission which is to provide food, fellowship and a sense of dignity to those in need. It also allows us to serve over 35,000 meals to the clients who come to us daily at the soup kitchen, homebound friends and seniors. Ebm-papst is making a difference in feeding the hungry.”

The connection between the company and Bread for Life was made thanks to Denny Boutin, BFL employee, whose wife, Janet Boutin, works for ebm-pabst. Barbara Cook, administrative assistant, coordinated the drive.

“It is wonderful that even companies and their employees outside Southington believe in Bread for Life’s mission, so ‘that no one may go hungry,’” Hafford said.
