Local bank customers select Bread for Life to receive donation

Earlier this year, customers of Santander Bank, located at 235 Queen St. in Southington, were asked to select one of three local nonprofits to receive a donation from the business. Votes were tallied over a three-month period and in the end Bread for Life was the favorite, said Stacie Dills, Santander Bank retail banking branch manager.

In mid-June, Dills and District Executive Darpan Adhyapak came to present the check to BFL Executive Director Eldon Hafford at the Masonic Lodge, where the daily meals are served to people in need.

Adhyapak said Santander Bank makes a commitment to the communities it serves and he was glad customers selected Bread for Life as the recipient. Visiting the kitchen and dining room gave him insight into the program and the opportunity to learn more about it from Hafford.

The executive director said he was very appreciative of Santander Bank’s donation to Bread for Life. It is such community support that helps ensure the mission “that no one may go hungry,” Hafford said,
