Northern CT Black Nurses Association Visits Medical Professions and Teacher Preparation Academy

Members of the Northern CT Black Nurses Association visited CREC Medical Professions and Teacher Preparation Academy in Windsor, CT on January 13,2014.  The purpose of their visit to was to inform high school students about careers in nursing. Mallory Perry spoke about her experience in the nursing program at UCONN, Beresthith Adams spoke about his experience as an APRN working in the emergency room, and Lisa Davis spoke about her career in the public health field.

The CREC Medical Professions and Teacher Preparation Academy is seeking students for the 2014-15 school year. The school enrolls students in grades 6-12 and has a rigorous core curriculum blended with a focus on the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the fields of medicine and education. By offering the opportunity to work with and learn from professionals in their fields, students gain first-hand experience in real world settings that include hospitals, clinics, research facilities, and laboratory classrooms. The CREC Medical Professions and Teacher Preparation Academy will be moving into a new state-of-the-art theme-specific building in New Britain in August 2014. The new facility has been designed to incorporate extended opportunities for theme-based learning in both the education and healthcare fields. More information about CREC Schools can be found at www.crecschools.org.
