Register Now for the 4th Annual Community Spelling Bee
Help the Southington Education Foundation once again spell excellence for the community’s school children. The fourth annual SEF Adult Spelling Bee is April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Southington High School Auditorium. Returning as BeeMaster is Joe Furey, Chief Meteorologist at FOX CT News.
Organize your team today. Team’s consist of three spellers who work together to formulate their answers. Costumes, themes and mascots are encouraged! Participation is $100 per person or $300 per team. Entry fees are fully tax deductible. Participants write their words on a white board and there is no microphone for participants.
Admission to the event is free; however, nonperishible food items will be collected to donate to Southington Community Services.
This year’s corporate sponsor is The Hospital of Central Connecticut. As such, 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward providing enriching educational opportunities in our classrooms throughout the Southington Public School district
Last year’s event consisted of 30 teams from all segments of the community and raised nearly $10,000.
Since its inception in 2009, the Southington Education Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 in grants to classrooms throughout the K-12 school system. Additionally, the SEF funds the Science at Sloper program, which sends fourth-graders throughout the district to Camp Sloper twice a year for hands-on activities utilizing the abundant natural resources on site.
