Sampson Congratulates Art Project Winners

HARTFORD –State Representative Rob Sampson (R-80) visited Tyrell Middle School to congratulate Jeremy Chin and Wenting Zheng, the winners of an art project competition he sponsored on what it means to be from Wolcott, Connecticut.

Students in the 6th grade at the school were asked to participate by creating an art piece, either drawing, painting or collage that reflects the meaning of being a Wolcott resident. Chin and Zheng, both aged 13, were selected as the winners by faculty at Tyrell Middle School from fifteen entrants. Winners were chosen based on appearance, research, and insight into Wolcott. Sampson visited all the competitors on Monday, October 21st in the school library to thank them for their participation and personally congratulate the winners.

“All of the entries were excellent, and I can understand how the judges had a difficult time selecting winners,” said Sampson. “My congratulations go to all the participants, and especially to Jeremy and Wenting on their great work that demonstrates true community interest and spirit through their eyes.”

Sampson presented the winners with certificates from the House of Representatives. The winning artwork will be displayed prominently at the State Capitol in Hartford during the month of November.
