Southington resident appointed web writer and editor at Quinnipiac University

John Pettit, of Southington, has been appointed web writer and editor at Quinnipiac University.

In his new position, Pettit is part of the team that generates and maintains content for the university’s external website, Quinnipiac.edu.

"Through my experiences as a student, alumnus and adjunct professor, I developed a great admiration for the university,” Pettit said. “Quinnipiac is a vibrant community and I hope to use my experience and news sense to tell many of its stories.”

Before coming to Quinnipiac, Pettit worked at the Meriden Record-Journal where he was an assistant sports editor.

The university redesigned its Website in October 2012. The new site features quicker navigation and new menus, which allow users to locate information more quickly. The improved site uses new content, videos and larger photos to highlight Quinnipiac’s high quality academic programs, strong sense of community and the beauty of its three campuses. On average 300,000 unique visitors are attracted to the website per month.

Pettit holds a master’s degree in journalism from Quinnipiac and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Connecticut.

He is married to Patty Pettit. They have three children, Emelia, 10, Gavin, 6 and Collin, 6.
