Please click the link to the Hartford Courant story below. Our residential group (Southington Citizens For Common Sense Land Use) is opposing a 9 lot industrial subdivision about to be dropped into the middle of a residential neighborhood with the only exit through residential streets. This is not a good development for our town for a multitude of reasons including :
- The police department has done a traffic study and concluded “Wonx Spring Rd. along with its intersection with Roxbury Rd. is not designed to handle the increase in large truck and tractor trailer traffic that would accompany the nine industrial businesses proposed for Progress Drive development”
- The state funded Connecticut Environmental Review Team (CERT) predicted “The Trip Generation report estimates 1,040 weekday trip swill be generated for a development of this type and size.”
- The property has environmental issues and risks polluting the Quinnipiac River if developed. This may impact the town’s budget for remediation of water discharged to the river.
- The development puts neighboring residents at a significant health and safety risk
The Planning and Zonning Commission will be reviewing this at their next meeting on Oct. 15th at 7pm.
