Former Governor John Rowland to Speak in Southington
The 10-year governor and talk radio host will discuss business and the state of Connecticut's economy during a special presentation on Oct. 9.
For 10-years, John Rowland led the state of Connecticut from the governor's office before controversy and exposed corruption led to his resignation. But the former governor still has an influence on the state and its economy through a role in talk radio.
Rowland is coming to Southington on Oct. 9, Southington Chamber of Commerce President Art Secondo said, and will address business workings and the state of Connecticut's economy during the chamber's celebrity breakfast.
In May the chamber hosted Gov. Dannel Malloy, who argued that the state needed to change its habits to attract more businesses. Malloy showed an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) development and said steps have been taken to move the state's economy in the right direction.
But Rowland has argued on his radio show that the steps taken have been counterproductive.
The event is hosted by the Southington Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by C&R Development. Admission for the event is $15 for members and $20 for guests. The event is open to the public.
