Happy Thanksgiving Branford! What Are You Thankful For?

The season of giving is here so let's give thanks together! Leave a comment below, 'What are you thankful for?'

When I first started Branford Patch, the re-occuring theme was generousity. People of this town give and they give a lot. You give your time, you give your money and most of all you give both every single year. Repeat givers, I guess!

Since Branford Patch launched, we published more than 235 articles tagged "volunteers in the news." That's something to be proud of.

So when I think about what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving, it's the good health of our new baby boy and the wonderful and generous community of Branford, in which my husband and I get to raise him.

So now that I've shared mine, please share yours! What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Thankful for a lot of things for sure, including all the contributions of our Militayry Veterans through history. Special Tip of the Hat to Rick Weiss, who was featured as "Person of the Week," in the "The Sound" issue that arrived in the mail yesterday (Nov. 21, 2012 edition). Rick used to be the Scoutmaster for the troop in which my son was a member, and I applaud his great commitment to making Branford a better place, for humans and pet animals alike. Thanks to the good start that Rick was instrumental in providing, by the way, my son Matt went on eventually to become an Eagle Scout. And finally, while we are at it, a Tip of the Hat to the Dan Cosgrove Branford Animal Shelter for all the great work that folks like Rick, and all involved, do on behalf of pets that need new homes.

I'm thankful for having patch as it gives me an outlet for sharing some of the history of branford that some might not know. Being I'm thankful for living in a warmer climate I can still stay in touch with them dam yankees lon the many stories and things that are happening in the town.

I agree with you Pete. Good job by Patch's Nicole, historical expert Alana (and SolarPete as welll, since he has a lot more Branford background than I do), and everyone else involved here. The Patch's interactive format is fun and allows for many to contribute their knowledge. Good luck Sarah and Emma in the Branford Rotary/Soundview Y 5k this morning, ref: http://branford.patch.com/events/branford-rotary-y-family-run-walk

When I was out getting my daughter over to the intermediate school for the start of the race, I saw the Rescue 5 folks at the Stony Creek Cemetary paying respects to the late volunteer firefighter Edward Ramos, who lost his life battling a fire in Branford in 1996. I am told they make the visit to Mr. Ramos' grave sight every Thanksgiving Day.
