Maine-to-Florida Hike Hits Southington on Nov. 3

Hike for Our Heroes raises money to support military families.

Volunteers are hiking from Maine to Florida to raise money for U.S. military families, and they’ll be passing through Southington on Saturday, Nov. 3. The town will honor their efforts with a fundraiser at Camp Sloper on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Hike for Our Heroes, organized by Kristen Creech and William Mosebach, two West Palm Beach, Fla., volunteers for Active Heroes, began on Sept. 8, 2012, in Calais, Maine. It will cover roughly 2,500 miles along the East Coast Greenway.

Creech and Mosebach are scheduled to reach Southington on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. Part of their hike will take them along Southington’s linear trail that extends through both downtown Southington and downtown Plantsville.
