(Updated) Morgan St. Pierre Gets N.Y. Times Spotlight for 'Hometown Photo'

The 16-year-old Southington resident was one of 145 pictures nationwide to receive a spotlight in the Times piece on teenage photographers.

In the day of cell phone camera's, photography has become something of a dying art.

For one Southington teenager, however, their ability to wield a camera has earned them national recognition as part of a New York Times series on "My Hometown," which features photographs from across the country.

Morgan St. Pierre, 16, was featured as one of two Southington residents recognized out of 145 nationwide in the recent Times piece for the picture shown. Annie Kamradt, 15, of Southington, was also recognized.

(Be sure to look back tomorrow as we feature her work. In the meantime, you can see it here.)

The photograph depicts a family and friend tradition taking place right here in Southington for much of the past 20 years now: Sunday dinner with the Gallagher and St. Pierre families.

Pictured are Karen Gallagher, Emily Gallagher, Alice Skrzypiec and Claudia St. Pierre gathered at the Gallagher household for a Sunday family dinner on March 3, 2013.
