Southington Woman's Home Birth Story Travels Far and Wide

Southington resident Erica Bovino delivered her daughter by herself at her home earlier this month.

Southington resident Erica Bovino's story has been appearing on media outlets all over: Huffington Post, the Today Show, the New York Daily News, and rightly so. The story is pretty incredible!

Bovino, a natural birth advocate, ended up delivering her daughter by herself in her home on May 6, the Record Journal reports.

Bovino said she felt the infant coming just moments after her water broke early that morning. So with her son asleep in bed and her husband driving home from work, she brought her daughter into the world by herself, according to the Record Journal.

“If I let fear overtake me, things could have turned out worse,” she said in the Record Journal. “If I freaked out for one second, I couldn’t have done that, I think.”

Both mother and child were fine after a stay in the hospital, the Record Journal said.
