Water Main Work Coming to Columbus Avenue; Delays Expected

The two week project will cause detours and delays. Make sure you are prepared.

The Southington Water Department is ready to begin infrastructure upgrades along Columbus Avenue later this week, but residents should be prepared for heavy traffic and detours as work begins.

The department will begin a water main replacement on Thursday, May 30, with the work expected to take two weeks. Work will continue daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"Drivers should expect minimal access onto Columbus Avenue," police said on the Southington Police Department Facebook page. "Motorists should also expect traffic delays in this area."

Businesses on Columbus Avenue will remain open during the construction. The street will also be open on the weekends with no construction.
