Planning & Zoning approves more economic development projects.
Town Meetings - week of May 16 to May 20, 2011
In realitivity short order Tuesday evening the Southington Planning & Zoning Commission approved two additional site plans for industrial buildings on Triano Drive off Lazy Lane.
AMJM Realty was approved for a 5,000 square foot building at 36 Triano Drive and Timberlou was approved for a 2,500 square foot building at 54 Triano Drive.
The Commission also granted a 65-day extension for the site plan for a proposed 25,700 square food building at 199 Lazy Lane, across the street from the above mentioned Triano Drive road. Triano Drive is being constructed partially with state STEAP grant funding.

With no proposed contenious housing projects on the agenda, the meeting lasted less than an hour.
In the other Town meeting yesterday, the Economic Development Strike Committee voted to authorize Town Manager Garry Brumback and Economic Development Coordinator Lou Perillo to apply for a new $250,000 STEAP grant by June 23rd to be used for the reconstruction of sections of Newell Drive and Redstone Street intersections and the Newell Drive and Aircraft Road intersections.

Current and proposed industrial expansion at Yarde Metals and the former Pratt & Whitney site are the basis for applying for this form of state grant.
