To Judy with Love: A 90th Birthday Celebration

Students from CREC’s Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, along with Judy Garland historian and author John Fricke, will create a 90th Birthday Celebration honoring the legendary talents of movie musical superstar Judy Garland. The students will present a pastiche performance of song and dance as a fundraiser for the musical theater department. John Fricke will spend a week educating the students during the creating and rehearsal process, guiding the work under the direction of Eric Larivee, Musical Theater Department Chair. Songs performed will include “The Trolley Song”, “Get Happy”, and, of course, “Somewhere, Over the Rainbow.”

To Judy, with Love will be held on September 29, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. and September 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Theater of the Performing Arts, located in the Learning Corridor on the campus of the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.

Tickets are $25/$15 for adults; $15/$10 for students and seniors. All proceeds go to the Musical Theater Department at CREC’s Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.  Tickets can be purchased online by visiting our website http://www.crec.org/theater, by phone Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at (860) 757-6388, or in person at the box office of the Theater of the Performing Arts, 15 Vernon Street Hartford, CT 06106 (please note: additional charges apply to online orders).  The Theater is three blocks south of Hartford Hospital, across the street from the Institute of Living.
