Culture and film meet art at the museum as they screen the hour-long film, "The Quiltmakers of Gee's Bend."

This auction provides a fun night out with others from the community  fundraiser for St. Dominic's Church.

Mount Southington, 396 Mount Vernon Road in Plantsville – (860) 628-0954, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m.
Why Go:
Mount Southington is hosting its Winter Carnival with a full day of events and activities for the whole family, which includes music, food and a special appearance by Sonar the Wolf, of the Connecticut Whale. A Carboard Box Race will be held early afternoon with the grand prize winner taking home $100 and a trophy.
Price:
Based on admission, which varies depending on activities and time of day.



Where/When: Southington Elks Lodge No. 1669, 114 Main St. in Southington - (860) 384-0255, Sunday Feb. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Why Go:
The Elks Club will host a special gold party. Share your gold with others and show it to trained staff who will carefully test and weigh it in front of you to determine its Karat weight and value. After considering the cash quote, you decide whether to keep your gold or sell it and go home with cash.
Price:
Free and open to the public.
