The New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington St. in New Britain – (860) 229-0257, Friday, March 4, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Why Go:
In the museum's monthly "First Friday" series, the museum will host a cultural experience with with music by The Afro-Semitic Experience. There will be hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, soda, and a performance by the Afro-Semitic Experience which includes African-American jazz pianist Warren Byrd and Jewish-American jazz bassist David Chevan.
Price:
$5 for members, $10 for nonmembers; $3 for beer and wine, soda is free.



Where/When:
The Hydeaway Cafe, 115 W. Main St. in Plantsville – (860) 426-9411, Friday, March 4, at 9 p.m.
Why Go:
The bar will play host to the Budweiser True Music Rock Warz sponsored by WCCC, with music from Lament, Robot IQ, A Silent Protest & Letters to the Living.
Price:
Open to everyone, cover varies, on first come first serve basis.

Where/When:
The Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St. in Plantsville – (860) 628-8745, Saturday, March 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Why Go:
Another great night out for a good cause. The Mill Foundation for Kids is holding its Fifth annual Shamrockin' Dinner Dance complete with dinner, an open bar, music, raffl, and a silent auction. Bring a new upwrapped toy to help the Mill Foundation fill its toy closet.
Price:
$75 per person.



Where/When: Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St. in Southington - (860) 919-7002, Sunday, March 6, from 7 to 11 a.m.
Why Go:
The annual buffet provides an opportunity for friends and family to enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, bagels, orange juice, coffee and tea. There’ll be door prizes and lots of fun and camaraderie, so bring your family and invite your friends and neighbors to join you.
Price:
$6, children under 5 are free.
Where/When:
Cheshire Academy, 10 Main St. in Cheshire - (203) 393-0211, Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Cheshire Academy will hold its 36th Annual Spring Antique Show in its Sheriff Field House. A food court will offer breakfast, lunch and hot and cold beverages. A free shuttle will be offered from Cheshire Town Hall. The show continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Price:
$4 for Saturday and Sunday admission.
