Where/When:

Why Go:
Get a lesson in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" during the Kennedy and DePaolo middle school drama club's spring presentson of the play by the same name. Directed by DePaolo Assistant Principal Chris Palmieri, the show includes an extremely talented cast and crew comprising students from both middle schools.
Price:
$4 for students, $7 for adults.


Where/When: The Southington Historical Society, 239 Main St. in Southington – 860-621-3500 or 860-276-7323, Saturday, April 9, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Why Go:
As part of the ongoing Civil War Exhibit, the Southington Historical Society will host Connecticut artist Don Troiani, collector of historical artifacts who is also a renowned military and historical artist. Troiani will lead an informal oral appraisal of military items, assisted by several other appraisers including expert William Bartley, who will appraise early American Antiques of all types.
Price:
$5 per item appraised or $10 for 3 items. There is a maximum of 5 items or groupings per person.



Where/When:
The Southington Public Library, 255 Main St. in Southington – 860-628-0947, Ext. 3, Saturday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m.
Why Go: An afternoon story time designed for children ages birth to 6 and accompanying adults. "Sproutlets" will have a chance to get involved by singing, dancing and using instruments while reading together on their grown-ups lap. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to actively participate because story times are a wonderful way to encourage a love of reading among children. No registration is needed for this fun time.

Free.

6th Annual Spring Jam Dance

Where/When:
The Palace Theater, 100 E. Main St. in Waterbury –  203-346-2000, Saturday, April 9 at 8 p.m.
Why Go: ACTJAMSproductions.com presents its 6th Annual Spring Dance Jam, featuring a live spoken word performance by poetic soul "Ernie Blue," as well as a special appearance by Guest DJ The Original Jay Beats! Mature crowds (25 and older) are invited to dance the night away to their favorite party jams and R&B hits from the 80s, 90s, and today, spun by DJ ACT.
Price:
$20 in advance.

Community Day at the New Britain Museum of American Art


Where/When: The New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington St. in New Britain – 860-229-0257, Sunday, April 2, from noon to 5 p.m.
Why Go:
The museum will be hosting a "give back" weekend, opening its doors to the public for free to bring exposure to the exhibits and programs offered on a regular basis. The Community Day celebration is a great way to share in your love for art.
