Where/When:
Southington Historical Society, 239 Main St. in Southington – (860) 621-8885, Thursday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m.
Why Go:
Are you a historical buff? Are you a parent who wants your child to learn more about history? Try this lecture on for size! Southington Historical Society Member Robert Cusano, chairman of the Civil War exhibit, will offer a view of the Southington volunteers who were captains and officers, as well as a look at their travels from engagement to engagement and from state to state during the period 1861-1865. The lecture will concentrate on the 300 plus men from Southington who volunteered for service out of a total population of 3,300 at that time.
Price:
Free, although donations are welcome for this non-profit organization.

Where/When: The Southington Public Library, 255 Main St. in Southington – (860) 628-0947, Friday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go:
Looking for a way to share your passion for art? Check out the works of local artist Arlene Fernandez as her fanciful works are put on display for the town to see. The Friday opening will include a special exhibit that will surround the library with unique color.
Price:
Free. Art will be on display all month long.

The Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St. in Plantsville – (860) 621-9335, Saturday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m.
Why Go: Feel like enjoying a night out with a black-tie affair? This is your oppurtunity to enjoy a Carnival atmosphere as the Calvanese Foundation hosts their 13th annual Gala Ball and Auction. The event will include dinner, an open bar and fun as the foundation looks to raise money during their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Price:
$180.

Golden Boys


Where/When: The Palace Theater, 100 E. Main St. in Waterbury – (203) 346-2000, Saturday, April 2, at 8 p.m.
Why Go:
Want a touch of the good old days? Fabian, along with Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell were united by Producer Dick Fox for a special tour. Come see  these "Golden Boys," three of the most popular Teen Idols of the late 50s and 60s.
Price:
$35, $45, $55 and $65 per ticket depending on section.

Bonterra Restaurant, 98 Main St. in Southington - (860) 426-2620, Tuesday through Thursday.
Why Go: Don't have time to go out on the weekend? Looking for a weekday deal for "just the two of you?" A special "two-for" meal provides a perfect getaway in the middle of the week. Dinner includes wine, salads and two entrees.
