Inside the SHS Senior Prom

Seniors celebrated their final year of high school in style with the Southington High School Senior Prom at the Aqua Turf over the weekend.

Southington High School seniors took to the Aqua Turf this weekend in celebration of their high school careers as they celebrated their senior prom..

"Southington High School books the Aqua Turf every year for prom, making the venue planning easy," said math teacher and prom advisor Becky Cousino.

Cousino, world language teacher Antoinette Delfino, math teacher Kate Wotjtak and Becky Cousino have seen students through freshman to senior years and prom is both a celebration of achievement and farewell event for all.

The weather held out, even though the date was marked by rumors of Rapture. Students for Southington High School shared the facility with Meriden's Orville H. Platt High School and Deep River Regional Valley High School.

Policemen are present within each banquet facility as a precaution, but the venue has been a good one for the final farewell said Southington Police Sgt. Peter D'Agostino.

"Town police are on a rotating basis throughout prom season," said D'Agostino. "With so many proms, Aqua Turf has never been a problem per say. It's a good idea to be here though, just from a crowd control perspective."

"The kids really come out in style - dressed to the nines, with tans, shoes, gowns, tux's, limos - you name it. I've seen it all,"  D'Agostino said.
