Young Filmmakers: Create Your Own Stop-Action Film

Library filmmaking workshop for kids 9 – 12 takes place Thanksgiving week.

Here’s a way to keep kids busy during the Thanksgiving break—and maybe discover the next great animated filmmaker.

The Southington Public Library is hosting a transmedia workshop for kids ages 9 through 12 that culminates in participants’ creation of their own stop-action film.

The workshop takes place during Thanksgiving week, with classes on Monday, November 19, and Tuesday, November 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and Friday, November 23, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

As part of the workshop, kids will discuss the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret, learn the technique used in the movie Frankenweenie, and work in pairs to create their own short movie on an iPad.
