Connecticut's average gas price continued to fall this week, dropping another 1.5 cents to a state average of $3.67 per gallon, GasBuddy.com reports.

The national average also fell, leveling out at $3.49 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.

Some places in Southington are giving residents a chance to purchase gas closer to the national average, according to the latest data from the Connecticut Gas Prices website, with the price per gallon of regular ranging between $3.52 and $3.73.

The lowest prices can be found at the Food Bag station on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike near South End Road, while the price per gallon of regular is just $3.53 along Spring Street at BJ's Wholesale Club. Three other stations are currently reporting prices at $3.55 per gallon, the website states.

However, the good news at the pumps could soon be over.

"The party at the pump with the seasonally lower prices may be temporarily over," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

"We've seen situations unfold that have caused a reversal in the downward trend, and those situations are multiplying across portions of the U.S. and Canada," he said. "Along the West Coast, supply has grown tight and will lead to likely increases, and in the Great Lakes prices may spike 10-20c/gallon in the next two days in over a half dozen states as a result of a similar situation."

"Refineries are finishing what was an extensive maintenance season and with plant restarts commencing, problems may develop, putting pressure on prices," DeHaan said.

Here are some more GasBuddy.com statistics:

  • Connecticut's average gas price is 39.3 cents lower than one year ago and fell 18.1 cents since last month.
  • The national average was 32.2 cents higher one year ago and dropped 13.3 cents compared to one month ago.
