Gas Prices Again on the Rise in Connecticut, Southington

After a brief respite from rising gas prices last week, the price at the pump once again appears to be on the rise. The state average, according to price tracking website ConnecticutGasPrices.com, rose two cents to $4.10.

The national average dropped three cents to $3.79 in the past week.

"In the last few years, we've typically seen a seasonal downward trend at the gas pump as the cooler temperatures invade," said analyst Patrick DeHaan, of GasBuddy.com, the parent company of ConnecticutGasPrices.com.

In Southington, ConnecticutGasPrices.com reports that the cheapest residents can pay for a gallon of regular is $3.95 at both the Food Bag station on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike and at BP on Main Street.

Gas prices is Southington are topping out at $4.29 at the Queen Street Shell Station.

"We just haven't seen any sort of real decline at the pump yet this autumn. This year has seen one of the warmest ever - temperatures and gasoline prices alike,” he added.

"High temperatures have been blamed on global warming, perhaps we're seeing a long term 'pump warming' equivalent at retail pumps. Either way, the small drop in gasoline prices isn't to the satisfaction of many, and I don't see enough relief to satisfy the majority of American motorists any time soon,” he said.
