Joann Fabric and Craft Sets February Dates for Grand Opening

The popular arts and crafts store with more than 800 locations will join Southington's list of businesses in 2014 – and the chain will be hiring soon!

For years, Southington residents have been forced to leave town to find some of their more specific arts and crafts needs, but in just a few short months they will soon have everything they need on Queen Street.

Joann Fabric and Crafts is coming to Southington, with the new location now under construction in Shop-Rite Plaza along Queen Street. The store is expected to be completed in the coming months and company officials have set a February date for the grand opening, according to public relations specialist Joe Adams.

“We plan to open a new Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts on Feb. 2, 2014. Grand Opening celebrations are scheduled to take place Feb. 13 through Feb. 15,” Adams said.

The store is the first large-scale craft seller in the community and will carry a large assortment of crafting, floral, seasonal accessories, finished home-décor items and an expansive selection of fabrics and apparel, crafting and home decorating.

Adams said this week that additional information, including special Grand Opening events, sales and offers, will be finalized as the grand opening date draws near.

The company will be hiring numerous positions as part of their launch efforts and will be hiring soon, officials said. The positions include full-time and part-time employees and more information is available online at joann.com/facebook.

The chain, which launched the first store in 1943, now has more than 800 locations in 49 states. For more information and updates on the Southington launch, click the link provided.
