Nardelli's Grinders Shop to Open Southington Location

Ninth store scheduled to open in the fall.

Nardelli's Grinders Shops have multiplied across Connecticut since the first of the chain opened in Naugatuck in 1979. Its lastest location is planned for Southington, according to a Waterbury Republican-American article.

Nardelli's traces its roots to a grocery store opened in 1922 shortly after the three Nardelli's brothers arrived in America from Italy, according to the chain's website.

The third-generation Nardelli's chain is still family-owned, though seven are franchises. The Southington location, at 405 Queen St., will be owned by Michael Osak of Oxford, who previously worked in the Naugatuck restaurant, the article says.

The Southington location is expected to open in the fall. Anthony Nardelli, the chain's co-owner, told the Republican-American that Osak expects to hire 12 people for full and part-time positions beginning in August.

The Nardelli's website boasts that the restaurant has been named Connecticut's Best Grinder.

Reviewers on Yelp! rave about sandwiches piled high with meat and cheese. You can see a menu on the restaurant's website.

Have you eaten at Nardelli's? Are you looking forward to the Southington location's opening?
