Southington Schools Hiring for Two Coaching Positions

One is for head coach of the girls basketball team at J. A. DePaolo Middle School and the other is freshman coach of girls lacrosse at the high school.

The application deadline is rapidly approaching for two coaching positions in the Southington Public School District.

For one — head coach of the girls basketball team at J. A. DePaolo Middle School— the deadline to apply is Nov. 13. The deadline for the other — freshman coach of the girls lacrosse at Southington High School — is Nov. 29.

Girls Basketball Coach


According to a job posting on the district's website, the head coach position pays between $2,947 and $3,767.

The job description is as follows:

"To direct, supervise and train the Girls’ Basketball Team at the middle school level. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: instruction and practice of skills andtechniques; sportsmanship and team play; contest preparation with appliedknowledge of game concepts and strategies; purchasing, scheduling, supervisingand record keeping."

Qualifications include:

"Candidates must hold a CT coaching permit; have a current CPR and First Aid cardand have CT Coaching Education Program (CCEP) Module 15-Concussion andHead Injury education. Candidate should have thorough knowledge of the sport /activity and demonstrate technical and tactical knowledge of the sport. Ability tomotivate middle school student athletes. Consideration shall be given to pastcoaching experience."

Girls Lacrosse Coach


According to a job posting on the district's website, the head coach position pays between $2,818 and $3,767.

The job description is as follows:

"To assist and direct the Freshman Girls’ Lacrosse Team under the direction of the Head Coach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: instruction andpractice of skills and techniques; sportsmanship and team play; contest preparationwith applied knowledge of game concepts and strategies; purchasing, scheduling,supervising and record keeping."

Qualifications include:
