Southington Athlete to Play for Simmons College

More than 30 Cheshire Academy students will continue their athletic careers at college in the fall. That’s the highest number of students in the Academy’s recent history to achieve that goal.

Among them is Kayla Padroff of Southington who will play volleyball and softball at Simmons College.

“It proved to be a record-setting year. We provided student athletes at Cheshire Academy the opportunity to pursue their dreams to play at a college level, in either Division I, II, or III,” said Athletic Director Brett Torrey.

This has been a banner year for Cheshire Academy athletics, in more ways than one. In addition to the strong college listings in just one year, the Academy has celebrated seven New England tournament appearances, Torrey said.

Those appearances have yielded five championships since May 2013.

Championship teams for this calendar year include volleyball, boys basketball, football and softball, with the softball team (including Paydroff) earning their championship title for the second year in a row.
