Southington Business Named Philanthropist of the Year - Building Hope Foundation Recognizes CAFD

On December 4, 2013 the Building Hope Foundation Silent Auction was held at the Norwalk Inn & Conference Center, and Connecticut Appliance & Fireplace Distributors (CAFD) was honored as Philanthropist of the Year.

The award recognizes outstanding civic responsibility as demonstrated by contributions of financial resources and voluntary commitment of time.

The Building Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization established by the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County to use the industry knowledge, resources and skills of HBRA members to benefit those in need in the Fairfield County community. This year, the Building Hope Foundation was involved with a project to repair Hurricane Sandy damage at the Marine Corp. League building in Ridgefield, and CAFD was honored for their generous donation of GE appliances.

When the Marine Corp. League needed new appliances to cook up their traditional Memorial Day breakfast before the marines go out to march in local parades, CAFD quickly volunteered to donate a GE  freestanding gas range and a GE side by side refrigerator freezer,  and deliverd them to the Marine Corp. League within a couple of days. The League was able to cook breakfast on their new range thanks to the generosity of CAFD and GE Appliances.”
