Board of Finance Chairman, John Leary's comment to my post of Oct. 14th, entitled: "Vision 2020: Leading the Way to Future Education" deserves wider public attention.
Leary wrote, and I heartily concur: "Erardi and the Southington BOE provide outstanding leadership to Education. The Board of Finance has an important role advising Town Council on the funding levels for education. I consider the quality and effectiveness of leadership as a critical prerequisite that must be firmly established prior to authorizing funding, especially $84.2 Million. If we fund the right things led by the right people we will achieve success.
Our overall long term success is more a factor of good leadership, visioning, and strategy than it is funding alone. Conversely funding an organization with ineffective leadership can be a very costly disaster."
