The Ascension - A Great Time to Review Our Journey in Faith

Today, Thursday, May 29, 2014 is the Holy Day of The Ascension of Jesus.

We are pleased to present a reflection on this day by Reverend Henry C. Frascadore, priest and poet, author of Beyond the Weeping Willow Tree: Mystery is a Gift Wrapped in Ordinary Paper, (2011), and conversations after sunset,  (2013.)

waiting for me to appear from among the clouds

i told you the other day

that i would never leave you

i'd be always at your side

so rather than risk a stiff neck by looking up

look around you

at the people across from  you at the supper table

or standing ahead of you

in the express lane of the supermarket

with a bag load of coupons

as unlikely as this may sound

that is where i am

next to you and around you

and in you

a boy of five asked me after Mass one Sunday

how do i get to heaven

i told him to walk holding Jesus' hand

he said

no, i mean what road do i take

why is it that we make holiness so difficult
