Special Interest Clubs meet monthly on Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Perry Room in an  opportunity to participate in discussion groups and informative exchanges with fellow enthusiasts in defined fields of interest. Facilitators have extensive professional and personal experience in their respective fields. No fees, dues, experience or membership requirements. Walk-ins welcome.

Financial Investments Club meets second Wednesday of each month. Lead by two investment professionals, Constance C. Proll, CFP and James R. Reynolds, AFA, the investment club explores the investing world, (including stocks, bonds, CD’s, money market, mutual funds and other instruments), through easy-going discussions of topics that are important to its members. In addition, many other topics are explored such as retirement healthcare, social security, and estate planning.

Digital Photography Club meets third Wednesday of the month. This informal group discusses camera equipment, the latest software, edits photos, and takes frequent field trips to practice their art. Facilitator, Peter Freeman, has been an avid photographer since childhood and has delved into the world of digital photography since 1999. He currently teaches Digital Photography at the University of Connecticut, Southington High School Adult Education, and the Calendar House Computer Learning Center and has taught adults for over 40 years. Bring your camera. Grow by sharing the joys of digital photography. All experience levels are welcomed from novice to expert as they work together in learning more about this remarkable technology.

Computer Club meets the fourth Wednesday of each month. The computer club discusses and investigates anything digital. Topics range from computer fundamentals to tablets and smart phones or anything else that has a processor. Hardware, operating systems and software are reviewed. We’ve even built computers from scratch. Mark White, our facilitator, is an engineer who has used computers as a tool for most of his working life, and is currently the Assistant Manager of the Computer Learning Center at Calendar House.  Come and join us as we create web pages, use the Skype, Facebook or Google tools to communicate around the globe or just fix misbehaving computers.

Other activities this week:  Aug. 14 at 8:45 am. Bagel Breakfast, topic Understanding Incontinence ;  Aug. 16 at 1:15 pm. Ice Cream Social & Sing along with Kathleen Gregory.
