Love Your Heroes Valentine Dance - New Date - March 9, 2013

The Love our Heroes Valentine Dance of the American Legion Auxiliary, Kiltonic Post 72 has been rescheduled to take Place on Saturday, March 9th at Testa's Banquet Facility.

Originally scheduled for February 8th, but postponed because of Blizzard Charlotte, the hosting American Legion Auxiiliary, Kiltonic Post 72, the Valentine Dinner-Dance has now been rescheduled to take place exactly one month later on March 9, 2013

I am forever indebted to the American Legion Auxiliary, as I worked with Nina Caron, Greg’s wife, and on the day I heard about her husband’s injuries, we had an American Legion Auxiliary meeting. That meeting, and those volunteers, provided me with an opportunity to go from feeling helpless to being driven to take action- which is the best gift I have ever received.

The “Love Our Heroes” Valentine Dance will be held at Testa’s Banquet Facility, located at 26 South Center St, Southington.   The event runs from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm.  Tickets are available for $25.00 per person.  Music will be provided by “DJ Jay”. There will be a Buffet Dinner, Cash bar, Dancing and Raffles.   A great way to spend a Saturday evening!   Proceeds will support our local Veterans.

For tickets,  please contact Sherri Valentin, Jr. Vice President of the American Legion Auxiliary at 860-655-7210 or Sherval@cox.net. If you already have a ticket it would be appreciated it you would confirm with Sherri that you are still planning to attend so that the order for food may be correct.

American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 Commander, Bob Abbott said "The fourth annual Love Our Heroes Valentine Dance is going to be a really good time for those attending while serving a great cause.  I believe some of the monies collected will benefit local veterans in Rocky Hill and New Haven as well as our active duty military serving our country."

Chairperson, Sherri Valentin also stated that the Valentine Dance  last year raised over $6,000 for one of Connecitcut's own injured marines.  Marine Corporal Greg Caron, lost both of his lower legs in Afghanistan, after stepping on an IUD. While that was the American Legion Auxiliary’s third Valentine Dance, it drew the largest crowd- so large in fact, that we had to find an alternate location for the event. It was with the support of Enzo Testa, who donated the use of his banquet facility, one month before the  dance, that the event took on a life of its own with donations soon coming in from local businesses as well as food and items for raffle prizes. Senator Richard Blumenthal joined us  for an evening to honor all Veterans, and pay tribute to a young man whose life was changed as a result of his service to oiur country.
