Southington Community Services Director, Janet Mellon, has appealed to all citizens, residents, those working in Southington and its service, charity and fraternal groups, faith congregations, businesses, professionals and town department to contribute to a special collection for the hungry in this holiday season.
State Sen. Joe Markley and Rep. Rob Sampson will be ringing the Salvation Army bells in front of Walmart on Monday, December 10th during the hour of 12 Noon to 1 PM.
Money collected in that one hour will be matched by Walmart and turned over to Mellon for the Southington Food Pantry.
The goal: To equal or beat last year's one-hour collection of $25,000, including Walmart's matching dollars to help feed the hungry during the holiday season.
