Calvanese Beer & Wine Festival a Blast of Fun

Neither heat, humidity, nor threatening thunderstorms deterred folks from coming out for the 5th Annual Beer & Wine Festival Thursday evening, July 11, 2013.

Calvanese Foundation's Treasurer, Kathy Reinhard, and her large committee of volunteers were thrilled at the huge turnout for their annual summer benefit.. "The attendance was wonderful with 725 ticket holders enjoying a great evening", Reinhard said.  Due to the inclemency of the weather, with possible thunderstorms anticipated, in addition to the very hot and humid conditions, an early call had to be made in order to move the event indoors where both Aqua Turf rooms open.  All of the beer, wine, food and ancillary vendors were able to be accommodated indoors, including Caseus of New Haven's food service van which sold out of their grilled cheese specialty.  Smokin' with Chris of Southington was set up with their usual outdoor cooking equipment just outside the Aqua Turf.

"One of the nicest things about this event is that a ticket price of $25.00 makes it affordable enough for so many to enjoy an exciting, festive summer evening together for a night out.", Reinhard said. More good news was that the event raised $15,000 for the foundation's planned charities.
