Working as a volunteer member of the STEPS Advisory Board has given me a new sense of purpose and lifted my spirit at this time in my life. While it's true that I have been involved in church and community service activities for over 16 years and that each of those have been extremely rewarding to me, feeding my spirit in different ways, STEPS has placed me in the company of a legion of younger adults and teen agers who are sincerely dedicated to changing our current culture to one that builds character from the youngest ages, that inspires service to every aspect of life in our community by planting seeds of a new culture that fress us from the damaging effects of teen age drinking, substance abuse and negative behavior, such as bullying.
There are so many ways every man and woman in Southington can contribute to Southington as a STEPS ABC, an Asset Building Community at every level of contact with kids.
Search Institute and other highly respected surveys and studies provide a base for us to show our youth the way to positive activities and behavior.
