Good morning Dads, Moms and families. Today, Southington Heartbeat takes us across state lines to the following story which came my way from a family member and the crusade of courage, compassion and mercy of five fathers, friends since their high school years in Staten Island. So strong were their bonds of friendship and grounding in the love of family, that they were ultimately brought together in a dramatic response to crisis and near tragedy in the life of the two year-old son of one of them. In reading it, Ii felt a sense of irony when the Five Fathers story appeared in my InBox on Mother's Day right after after I had posted "What Does Mother's Day Mean To You" on Southington Patch. Kevin Skirde's story of a two-year journey traveled with his friends is a paradigm of the power of loving fathers. For an inspiring true story, read "Five Fathers".
