Vacation Bible Schools Rock in Southington, USA.

High marks are earned by Vacation Bible Schools throughout America according to scientifically data by the Barna Research Group, a noted private, non-partisan, for-profit research organization located in Ventura, CA. A study referenced on their site indicates that two out of three churches in America, (actually 68%), offered Vacation Bible School programs in 2012.  The research groups also asserts that the level of participation has been fairly steady for decades with the notable high-point of 81% participation in 1997.

The Barna Group has for 30 years undertaken ongoing analysis and primary research in cultural trends related to values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors in the USA.

Popularity of these generally church-based summer camp experiences is related to many factors.  Programs usually are a week in duration, with some groups holding lengthier sessions ranging to about four weeks. Most programs are designed as fun, social and learning experiences with faith-based themes in a comfortable and safe environment.  Individual tuition fees are held to modest levels based on access to significant numbers of volunteers of the congregation and the availability of relatively inexpensive pre-packaged programs containing all needed materials produced specifically for summer bible programs for children.

Vacation Bible Schools, (VBS), require a great deal of planning, organization and mobilization but the demand demonstrated by the statistical data presents a vibrant parental interest in Vacation Bible Schools in America with the trend notably correlating to an enduring commitment to the faith and spiritual development of children with the expectation of providing opportunities to raise their kids as spiritually developed adults, ready to take a meaningful place in their parishes and congregations and society in service to God and one another.

With roots going back to the antebellum period of the 1870s, summer bible schools continue to do their part in sustaining a valued culture for Americans of diverse faith traditions.
