Join A Beautiful Southington Tradition - An Interfaith Gathering in Thanksgiving

Southington's Tuesday Before Thanksgiving...

This year, Southington's Faith Community comes together for its traditional Interfaith Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday evening, November 26th at 7:30 pm at the First Congregational Church of Southington at 37 Main Street, right across from the Town Green.

For more years than many of us can remember, The Southington Interfaith Clergy Association the inter-faith communities of Southington have come together to build a genuinely warm and growing expression of faith and Thanksgiving.

The Interfaith Thanksgiving Service brings us together to celebrate a tradition that goes back to the earliest times of our country's history to pause for an hour together in prayer for the blessings bestowed on each of us and our community as a whole and to remember to share with those who are hungry this Thanksgiving.

The spiritual experience with all of our friends in the community makes it a very special time for sharing scriptural readings, music, song and reflections from the heart and spirit of our diverse faith traditions.

This year, the inter-faith service will be hosted by the First Congregational Church of Southington with the Gishrei Shalom Jewish Congregation co-hosting with the participation of clergy and congregations of the Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Sikh faiths.

All are genuinely welcome to attend the interfaith service and the Community reception that will follow in the FCC Memorial Hall.  Participating congregations are asked to bring finger foods to share, e.g. cookies, cheese, crackers, fruit.  Those from surrounding communities are also invited to join along with those visiting Southington for the holiday.

Remembering those who would not otherwise have a meal on Thanksgiving, we ask for your generoisity in bringing non-perishable canned and boxed food items as a donation to be shared by Bread for Life and Southington Community Services to help feed the hungry within our community. There will also be an offering taken for these two organizations who do so much to help feed our indigent, local hungry.
