Celebrating National Library Week

In honor of National Library Week, we are hosting a special Five Things today to let you know how you can make the most of your experience at Southington Public Library.

Of Course There’s Books –

Whether it’s fiction, cook books, biographies or the most recent novels you are seeking, there’s a wide variety of selections at Southington Public Library. If the library doesn’t have it in stock, however, it could still be available for you.

The library exchange allows libraries from across the state to share resources and your book could be available. Just inquire at the information desk.

DVDs and Video Games –

Everyone knows that the library has books. That goes without saying. But did you know they also have hundreds of DVDs and a variety of video games for each of the latest systems including X-Box, Playstation 3 and Wii?

The library’s collection includes hundreds of titles, new releases, Blu Ray compatible discs and more. Stop in and check out the selection today.

Children’s Department –

In addition to the wide selection of children’s titles, the library encourages parents to bring their little ones in to play. Whether it’s imagining what it’s like to steer a steamboat, building with blocks or just socializing with other children, there’s something for kids of every age.

Museum Passes and Discounts –

The library encourages ongoing learning and cultural enrichment – and what better way to enjoy such experiences then at a free or discounted rate?

From the Twain Museum to the Mystic aquarium, there are more than a dozen passes available that can be used for day-trips or weekends. All you have to do is inquire at the information desk.

A Never Ending Experience Online –

Did you know that in addition to going to the library, there are countless books, guides, language learning tools, databases and other resources online?

Learn more about what’s available today from 9:30 to 11 a.m. as a representative from Library Connections will demonstrate how to download free audio books and eBooks discuss using our new online digital resource with free access to popular e-books and audio books directly from you homes and offices.  Handouts will be available with more information.
