So here’s the scoop for today, March 10, 2011.

SHS Blue Knights Eliminated From CIAC Tournament –

A stunning comeback on Monday evening gave the Southington Blue Knights boys’ basketball team a victory over rival Cheshire, but the magic ran out Wednesday as Holy Cross knocked off the Blue Knights 72-68 at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury.

The loss marks the end of the season for the boys’ basketball team and the end of the winter sports season for Southington High School.

A Guide To Social Networking –


Do you find yourself on the outside of Facebook, Twitter or other social networking sites? Mulberry Gardens is helping sponsor a program to help you make the adjustment to the social networking age.

The Marian Heights Adult Day Center in New Britain is offering a "Lunch and Learn" program about social networking. The program will begin at Noon at the center, 314 Osgood Ave. in New Britain.

Chamber Women Meeting –


The Chamber Women of the Southington Chamber of Commerce are meeting in the chamber conference room at the Chamber of Commerce Office this morning at 9 a.m.

The meeting is designed to promote female business ownership and encourage local women to get involved in the business sector. It’s open to all female chamber members.

Northern Little League Registration –

Registration for Southington Northern Little League and Babe Ruth baseball will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the DePaolo Middle School.

Children ages 5 - 18 as of April 30, 2011 are eligible to register. Registrants should bring a birth certificate with raised seal and parents or legal guardians must present three forms of proof of address: a valid government-issued photo identification card; a federal, state or local tax bill; and a utility bill showing the address.
