PTO Meetings, Whiz Kids and Mom's Talk

What's what in Southington today, March 9, 2011.

So here’s the scoop for today, March 9, 2011.

Finance Education for Students –


In a tough economic time, financial propriety becomes more important than ever and the Southington Knights of Columbus chapter looking to give local teenagers an edge.

The program 12-week program, which runs Wednesday through May, is formulated by the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and includes such topics as money and banking, investments, insurance, financial planning, managing debt and credit cards and credit scores.  Details are available at www.cscpa.org.

Plantsville, Strong to Host PTO Meetings –


The PTO’s at both the Strong and Plantsville elementary schools will host their monthly meetings tonight. The meetings allow parents to get directly involved in their child or children’s everyday school experience through fundraising efforts and other initiatives.

The meetings are each open to all caregivers. The Plantsville meeting will take place at the beginning at 6:45 p.m. and the Strong PTO will begin their meeting at 7 p.m. at the .

Southington’s Whiz Kids Rise Above All Others in Hartford County –

It take some artistic talent to beat out 1,000 other entries in the town of Southington, but local students Carolyn Del Debbio and Brandon

The new patch discussion series “Mom’s Talk” continues today with an article at 1 p.m. to lead the discussion and Southington patch wants to know: how have you or do you plan to deal with explaining death to your child?

This interactive series in designed to promote positive discussion and encourage parents, grandparents, siblings and parents-to-be to use one another as a resource to get through the tough challenges that come with raising any child.
