Sewer Fallout, Town Hall Meetings and OMG PD

What's what in Southington today, March 14, 2011.

So here’s the scoop for today, March 14, 2011.

Stonegate Residents Expected To Turn Out In Numbers Tonight Over Sewer Woes  –

While heavy rains and melting snow brought water into many basements late last week, Stonegate Road residents were left with an all to familiar sight – sewage backing into their homes through pipes. It was the third time since 2007 that residents experienced this problem and for many, it was the last straw.

Several residents and their families are expected to come before the Town Council tonight to make a plea that the town undergoes a project to fix the problem once and for all.

The meeting will take place at Town Hall, 75 Main St., beginning at 7 p.m.

Malloy Goes To Bristol For Town Hall Meeting –

Gov. Dannel Malloy will be at Bristol High School this evening for a town hall meeting, part of an effort to detail his budget and listen to concerns and needs of the public.

The meeting will be held at Bristol Eastern High School, 632 King St. in Bristol, from 7 to 8 p.m. A large turnout is expected so plan to arrive early.

All Night Graduation Party Meeting –

Parents are encouraged to join the planning at Southington High School this evening as organizers prepare for the annual all night graduation party, an alternative celebration designed to help graduating seniors have fun and do so in a safe, healthy manner.

The meeting will take place at the high school, 720 Pleasant St., beginning at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in helping out.

OMG PD –

Police have interesting jobs – sometimes more interesting than most of us to imagine. Here at Patch, we aim to share the stories that will capture your attention and make you say “oh my goodness!”

If you’ve missed it, we’ve rolled out a new weekly feature “OMG PD” which compiles the most unusual stories in the state. Today’s tales include a suspicious suspect on a Stop and Shop roof – a store employee – and a man found sleeping in his truck holding a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
