Snow Update: Everything Should Be Normal By Monday

With a final list of tasks in front of them, town officials are hoping everything will finally return to normal on Monday.

The following update was provided by Southington Town Manager Garry Brumback on Thursday evening:

We have spent the majority of today improving intersection sight lines, removing snow from municipal parking lots and clearing roads with no snow shelves. Additionally, we worked on school access walks and had that completed before school began this morning.

The Southington Water Department removed snow to provide for access for our fire hydrants.

School was in session and children made it to and from with no incidents. Tomorrow we will finish up downtown and inspect all of the remaining bus stops and bus routes in order to make sure there are no issues with school next week.

Finally, we had volunteer firefighters (Jason Harnish and Patrick Walesky from ) who assisted some elderly citizens with removal of snow from their sidewalks.

We expect to be able to resume normal operations following the Presidents Day holiday.
