Southington Patch: A Year in the Making

Today marks the first anniversary of Southington Patch and it has been a tremendous adventure. We hope you'll continue to be a part of it.

It seems like just yesterday that to the public, starting with a bang as we brought you being hired as the new town manager in Southington, a first for the community since John Weichsel was hired as the first-ever manager 45 years ago. A lot has happened since.

Today we are celebrating the one-year anniversary, or birthday, of Southington Patch. It’s a milestone that we are extremely proud of – and that one we couldn’t have accomplished without the support of the community behind us.

In that time, we have brought you in-depth coverage of the in town, breaking news including a gruesome , ongoing up-to-date information following that left 70 percent of the town powerless and more.

We have also offered a place for people to share accomplishments and announcements, events and their opinions on virtually any issue that has captured their interest.

Side note: You can enter your own announcements and events by clicking the links above.

It’s certainly been an interesting year for us at Patch as we have continued to evolve and provide you with the latest news and information happening throughout the community. We have listened to you and tried to find ways to provide the information you want to know regarding what’s going on and improve your everyday life here in Southington.

When I took on this role as Local Editor last year, I can honestly say I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was an adventure getting the site up and running and balancing the seemingly endless news and information coming from the community.

As we continue to grow, your support and input remain an important part of what we do. Don’t ever hesitate to reach out to me personally at Jason.Vallee@patch.com. I look forward to hearing all your thoughts and answering any questions you may have.

I look forward to working with you in the year to come. Thanks for being a part of my adventure and thank you for reading Southington Patch. And of course, Happy anniversary to Southington Patch.
