There are only two regular government meetings this week, but don't let the light calendar fool you. It's a busy week with the Southington YMCA and Southington Chamber of Commerce each holding annual events while the school district hosts a community-wide forum.

GOVERNMENT MEETINGS
Monday, Jan. 28

  • Southington Town Council, 7 p.m., in the assembly room at the Municipal Center Offices, 200 N. Main St. in Southington.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

No meetings scheduled.

Wednesday, Jan. 30

  • Self Insurance Committee, 4:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at Southington Town Hall, 75 Main St. in Southington.

OTHER MAJOR EVENTS

Parents are invited to a community forum to discuss school safety. The meeting is open to any interested residents of the community and will give people a chance to share their concerns regarding safety at both the schools and in the community as a whole.

YMCA Annual Meeting
Wednesday, Jan. 30, 5:30 p.m., at the Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry Street in Plantsville.
The Southington YMCA will host their annual meeting with a night that promises fun and surprises. The annual dinner will also include the annual awards ceremony to recognize Southington's leaders.

Southington Chamber of Commerce State of the Town Dinner
Thursday, Jan. 31, 5:45 p.m., at the Manor Inn Restaurant, 1636 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Plantsville.
The Chamber invites members and guests to its 4th Annual State-of-the-Town supper. The program features commentary from members of the Town Council, Town Manager, Superintendent of Schools, as well as our Fire and Police Chiefs. If interested, please call 860-628-8036 for reservations. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members. Space is limited so do not miss out on this great event!
