Kids Entertainment Series
Tuesday, Aug. 14, 6 p.m., at , Maxwell Noble Drive in Plantsville.
All shows are held on Tuesday evenings at the gazebo in the pine grove at Recreation Park, with this week's show including "Mr. Magic" Rich Rothstein and Ethan Frankel's comedy juggling. Music on the Green

YMCA Skate Park Special Event
Thursday, Aug. 16, 5 p.m., at , 1000 East St. in Southington.

The YMCA Camp Sloper Skate Park will be opening up the gates an hour early for an event sponsored by the clothing company, Something Sick, Inc. Throughout the event the team from Something Sick, Inc. will play music, serve food, and host a variety of competitions and contests. Helmets are required for all skaters, and there is staff present during all open hours to ensure that every skater is following this safety policy. Additional padding is recommended to maximize safety. All skaters must have a 2012 waiver form signed by a parent/guardian on file in order to skate. The YMCA Skate Park is FREE for all Southington residents and members of the Southington and Cheshire YMCAs who are in third-grade or older. Parents must accompany all third- and fourth-graders during their time in the YMCA Skate Park. Drive-In Movie Night

Saturday, Aug. 18, at the , 966 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Plantsville.
"The Goonies" - Rated PG, hosted by Southington Knights Travel Football. Gates open at 6 p.m.; movies begin at sunset. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 19. Southington residents pay $10 a carload; non-residents pay $13 a carload. Walk-ins are welcome at $2 per person - please bring lawn chairs. Food vendors will be on site. Movies subject to change.
